This can opener is modified in Wild Goose Filling's machine shop.
A milling machine is used to precisely remove material near the cutting mechanism. This allows the can opener to accurately cut into the lid. without damaging the internal components of the seam.
Once the top of the lid has been removed, the seam inspector then has the ability to measure the double seam's body hook and cover hook lengths.
It also allows the seam inspector to visually inspect the pressure ridge and the inside surface of the cover hook for looseness wrinkles.
